Default BDWF AMPHIBIA PRICING AND Reservations

UPDATE 3: We are ready to accept payments. The final price will be $90 shipped. I will be sending out payment instructions via PM to everyone shortly. If you ordered a watch but do not receive a PM within the next day or so, please contact me directly.

Thanks!

-k

UPDATE 2: The order will be submitted on Monday, 2/22. If you participated in this project, you should have received confirmation PM's. Please check your mailboxes and respond before the order is placed to be included.

Thanks to everyone who participated, and special thanks to Luis for making this happen!

-k

UPDATE: Individual dial numbering is not feasible, so we are going forward with the dial as shown below. In order to preserve the original price, we need 50 commits asap. If we cannot get 50, we'll go with the 30 we have now, but that will cause two important changes to the original order: the price will go to ~$95.00, and only one watch per order. This last part will only really affect roo7 and myself, however.

Thanks,

-k

Hello all,

[K] and I have been working together behind the scenes to try and get a vostok BDWF watch going.

The watch will be limited to 50 peices so if you want one please reserve yours by responding to this thread!

Now for the pricing/shipping details:

Pricing for the watch and delivery will be roughly between $82-$85.00 USD
the watch will take about a month to complete and delivery will take about 2 weeks.

Watch details:

The watch will be an Amphibia Ministry case with 22mm lugs.
the dial is still a work in progress and K and I will post a pic of the final dial once completed but the general design concept is as pictured above.

Specs:
  • Custom BDWF dial with luminous dial markers
  • Amphibia hands, luminous
  • Stainless steel case
  • 200m waterproof
  • Screw-down crown and caseback
  • Bracelet
Movement:
  • Vostok 2416Б automatic movement

Just a quick follow-up to emphasize that the dial design is a very rough mock up. The final product will be MUCH better looking than that (and professional)!

I am thinking about purchasing a few and there might be a contest in the future...

I like the design! Put me down for one. When do you need the cash money?

We have to get 50 reservations first. Once we meet the quota we can move forward with the design team from SMIRS. So If we want this to happen WE gotta MAKE it happen.

Plus if this goes well we can design future custom dials and make it a yearly tradition.

Are you open for suggestions regarding the dial? I ask, because I know how this can quickly deteriorate into endless discussions that never converge. You have done a great job, so please consider this just food for thought.

My favorite Vostok dial layout is this one:

It is very elegant, yet classical. By removing the numbers except the "12" in your design and replacing them with hour markers, the BDWF logo will be more pronounced. You could move the logo to the location where Komndirskie is placed in my picture, and downsize it somewhat to fit. Actually, I think that if you make the logo smaller, the layout will be more in balance and sophisticated. Unfortunately, I am not skilled enough in photo editing to make a sample.

Are you sure you want to combine the Amphibian hands with the date window? I promote either a change of hands to Komandirskie style, or removal of the date window.

Edit: I just discovered that the Amphibian hands in combination with the date window is historically correct, so please disregard from that comment.
Anyway, I applaud your initiative and will follow the progress with great interest.

That is going to look really nice. I want to say yes, but I have to ask for a little more time to decide. Gotta' add up the medical bills still comming in and see if there is anything left. I know the price is small but it is very tight right now.

Good job guys, a nice price for that Vostok!

Isn't there any way possible to get them numbered as a limited edition?

I'm with you on this, Ron.

How was it we were able to get the last BDWF watch numbered as LE and the cost was still under $50?

What wrong with at least having LIMITED EDITION printed on the dial?
Although I'd still prefer to have them include xx/50.

We're not asking for engraving the caseback.

Putting something like "Limited Edition" on the dial would be simple enough, although I would prefer keeping with the theme of the watch (logo notwithstanding) and using the Russian equivalent, "Ограниченный Издание".

Stenciling differing numbers (e.g. 01/50, 02/50, etc.) on the dial may incur an additional cost, but is something we can look in to.

Will it come with a bracelet or strap? Believe it or not, that makes a big difference for me.
