Default Russian Watch Guide

I "bumped" into this site while surfing Russian vintage pieces. It's not bad for somebody like me that's learning about them. Take a look....

I would completely ignore the section about the Invicta Russian Diver. It's a fable.

[k], when I read thru that section yesterday, I didn't believe it for a second. I have read a few articles about Invicta's history, the one below being the most common. I'm not sure I've ever seen or heard of Invicta before the 1980s, but I have read about the Picard family. (I've often wondered if they were related to Jean-Luc, , but then that's another story........)

http://ezinearticles.com/?History-of...atch&id=251545

I was surprised to see them even mentioned in this article on Russian watches. In a way, I wished they didn't because, for me, it kinda tarnished the "credibility of the site.

The "phony" Invicta article aside, I thought the rest of the site was worth mentioning, if not for just the information a newbie like myself could take away from it concerning Russian watches. I wonder how much "somebody" paid to have that slipped in there....

I agree, the site has a lot of good information on it, and I would not want to impugn the entire information archive just because of that erroneous Invicta article. I have no doubt that the author simply believed the story without question, and is not knowingly passing along bogus information.

I haven't plumbed the depths of the site as of yet, but I've read a few articles in the past, and found it to be reliable.

George... that it isn't a truly made Russian watch is the point we are talking about. It comes from Eyal's secret factory in the Swiss Alps (Or Hollywood Florida), but no place in Russia.... hench, a bogus addition to a Russian watch column.
